Ryan Anderson

Project Manager

Ryan joined Pioneer as an Apprentice in 1994, working his way through the ranks to Foreman, then Superintendent, before landing in his current role as Project Manager in early 2023. He is known amongst his peers and clients for being easy-going, reliable, and honest. With almost three decades of experience and extensive knowledge of Pioneer’s services, he has the skills to estimate and manage a diverse range of projects and budgets. Ryan also oversees any sub-consultant coordination. He welcomes the opportunity to provide any of Pioneer’s services to keep your building standing for many years to come.

Focus: Below grade and general waterproofing, brick work, caulking, tuck pointing, clean and seals, historic preservations and deck coating.

Mike Crawford

President

The son of Pioneer Waterproofing founder Tom Crawford, Mike grew up in the business and in the past 45 years has gained experience in all levels of the company.

As President, he oversees companywide operations, project management performance, select project estimating and human resources. Mike is especially proud of their employee retention record which includes over 50% of the crew still with the company after 10 years and several multi-generational employees. Along with his business responsibilities, he also founded the company-sponsored Holiday Bike Drive donating over 4,800 new bikes since its inception in 1998. Overseeing the crews, production and equipment to provide over 30 different services is shared by the entire management team.

Korey Shimojima

Vice-President

With an educational background in architecture, Korey joined Pioneer in 1995. Today he brings his expertise in all types of waterproofing and sealant systems to Portland’s largest commercial and mixed-use structures. Given the Northwest’s wet climate, waterproofing is a critical and challenging factor in new construction, and Korey’s knowledge is highly respected by area contractors and designers. Korey also serves as a Vice-President and Lead Estimator for Pioneer.

Areas of Focus: Below and above grade waterproofing, deck coatings, joint sealants for commercial, industrial and mixed-use projects.

Josh Jensen

Project Manager / Vice-President

An employee since 1994, Josh was promoted to the role of Project Manager after serving as Job Foreman for many years. His responsibilities include estimating projects of all sizes (specializing in restoration and building envelopes), coordinating work crews and overseeing house clients. With his constant, positive attitude, he’s made his motto: “No job is too small!” Often managing projects under the direction of a general contractor, coordinating his work scope with all the other sub-contractors on site is a top priority.

Areas of Focus: Historical Preservations, epoxy floors, deck coating, building maintenance, below grade waterproofing, caulking, tuck pointing, clean and seals, and general waterproofing.

Sara Stone

Project Manager

Sara is the 3rd generation joining the company her grandfather, Tom Crawford, founded in l964. After earning her Bachelor of Arts degree from Oregon State University in 2015, she joined the admin team learning operations from the ground up. Now a Project Manager, Sara plays a critical role in keeping jobs running smoothly and on schedule, and on budget. Her responsibilities include submittal packages, background checks, securing permits, locating materials, and handling any and all details to deliver successfully completed projects to our customers.

Steven Karaba

Project Manager
Spokane

Joining Pioneer in 2014 and promoted to Project Manager in 2020, Steven has direct responsibility for clients in the greater Spokane region along with several Inland Northwest cities. He is hands on with estimating, bidding, scheduling, ordering materials, and coordinating Pioneer’s work with the contractors and subs. Steven also actively participates in business development to further establish Pioneer in this region. Born and raised in Spokane, his construction career began in 2006 focused on commercial building maintenance and repair services.

Areas of focus: Deck coating, epoxy flooring, below grade waterproofing, masonry restoration, concrete repair and caulking.

Darrin Arnott

Controller/Vice-President

Joining Pioneer’s management team in 2014, Darrin has over two decades of accounting experience with the majority of that time in the construction industry. He provides overall financial leadership consistently linking to the company’s business goals. In addition to managing the accounting department, Darrin’s responsibilities also include taxation and licensing, insurance, IT and telecom, employee benefits and retirement plans, and workers compensation. He also oversees Pioneer’s equipment, inventory, and fleet management. A graduate of UC Santa Barbara with a B.A. in Economics, Darrin relocated to Oregon in 2006.
